PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Associate in Science degree in Criminal Justice is a program that prepares graduates with knowledge and skills for numerous career opportunities. Career preparation opportunities include local, state, and federal career tracks in law enforcement, investigations, juveniles,corrections (probation and parole), and pre-law. Flexibility in the Associate of Science degree also allows customizing study options for other classes including business and computers. Specializing in hands-on and scenario-based training, the Criminal Justice program strives to ensure that graduates leave the program with knowledge and with the ability to analyze, problem-solve, work with a team, and, as possible, demonstrate skill proficiency in the program curriculum.There are also opportunities to train with and learn from local agencies to bring the real world to the classroom. This degree fulfills the College’s mission of developing skills in written communication, oral communication and critical thinking while advancing knowledge in diversity and social responsibility. The semester-by-semester plans described below are general guidelines. Students should work closely with their academic advisors to develop a plan that best meets their own individual needs and goals.
