PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Associate in Science Degree in Production Agriculture provides an educational curriculum to enhance a student’s ability to be successful in his or her agricultural endeavors. The Production Agriculture program is structured to allow flexibility in choices or courses that a rest suit a student’s particular interests and goals. Whether they are interested in agronomy, agribusiness, agricultural education, ag sales, feedlot management, or any other agriculture field, students can develop an educational plan utilizing this two-year degree which can lead to a Bachelor in Science degree in Agriculture. The college offers a large selection of electives to meet the needs of the path the student has chosen in the broad and interesting field of Production Agriculture. This credential fulfills the College’s mission of developing skills in communication and problem solving while promoting a strong work ethic. The semester by-semester plans described below are general guidance. Students should work closely with their academic advisors to develop a plan that best meets their own individual needs and goals.

Systemwide General Education Bucket Requirements (SGE)
Beginning in Fall 2024, GCCC will participate with all state universities, Washburn University and all community colleges in Kansas in the systemwide general education (SGE) framework for associate in arts (AA) and associate in science (AS) degrees. GCCC’s SGE framework includes 34-37 credit hours organized in 7 “buckets” identified by an individual SGE code. Any student who has completed the full credit hour requirement in all buckets will be considered to have completed the Kansas SGE framework for associate in arts (AA) and associate in science (AS) degrees. The completion of the 34-37 credit hour general education package will be noted on the student’s transcript.
