PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Stand-Alone Parent Program (SAPP) for Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) is a course that provides the student with basic knowledge and skills necessary to meet the psychosocial, physical, and environmental needs of patients, clients, or residents of the facility or agency each student will work with. The student works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide essential daily tasks, such as dressing, eating and personal hygiene. The CNA course entails 90 clock hours as required by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) and includes 45 hours of instructional learning and 45 hours of lab/clinical time. The CNA course prepares the student to take the examination developed by KDADS.
