EDUC 105 - Foundations of Education T> 3 Hour(s)
This course acquaints students with the American public school system. It examines various motivations for teaching, timely information on salaries, and opportunities for employment. Instruction focuses on the philosophy of education, the history of American education and the dynamics of school life including curriculum content; social issues that affect education; how schools are governed, controlled and financed; legal and ethical issues that face teachers; expectations; and professionalism. Students will also complete at least 20 hours of observation in a K-12 setting and will document their time. Documentation logs are required for successful completion of this class.
