A background in basic algebra is useful but not required. This course is a largely qualitative study of the sun and planets, stars and galaxies and a survey of what is known and how it is known. Extensive use will be made of audio-visual materials in class. Occasional telescopic observation sessions will be held. This is a three-credit hour course.
