PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The Computer Support Specialist Network+/Security+ certification is a program which includes the Certificate A curriculum and furthers the technical and communication areas of training including the development of skills in hardware, software, networking, written communication, verbal communication, and problem solving. This credential fulfills the College’s mission of developing skills in communication and problem solving while promoting a strong work ethic. The completed program prepares students for the industry recognized CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+ certification exams, to join the computer support workforce or to continue their education.
The Garden City Community College Computer Support Specialist program is in alignment with the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) CIP Code: 11.1006 Computer Support Specialist. A program that prepares individuals to provide technical assistance, support, and advice to computer users to help troubleshoot software and hardware problems. Includes instruction in computer concepts, information systems, networking, operating systems, security, cloud computing, computer hardware, the internet, software applications, help desk concepts and problem solving, and principles of customer service.
