ENGR 205 - Statics 3 Hour(s)
Prerequisite(s): PHYS 207 Engineering Physics I T> minimum grade C and MATH 122 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I T> minimum grade C Statics is an introductory branch of engineering mechanics focused on the fundamental concepts within systems in static equilibrium. The course will expand on vector operations and solid mechanics to further reinforce attention to detail and critical thinking. Further, it will allow development of a systematic approach to effectively implement problem-solving strategies. Specifically, the course will explore systems with particles and rigid bodies in a state of static equilibrium involving the concepts of translational and rotational forces, composition and resultants, friction, stress and strain, structural analysis, loading modes, moments of inertia and centroids.
