Prerequisite(s): Tested out of or successfully completed developmental reading and writing courses OR instructor consent.
The course considers a variety of literary genres including short stories, poetry, drama and novels. The main purpose of the class is for students to achieve an appreciation of literature and criticism through careful study of these literary types, study themes inherent to the human condition, and attempt to answer the question of what place literature has in our society.
