WELD 120 - Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) (DC Pathway) 3 Hour(s)
Prerequisite(s): WELD 110 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) (DC Pathway) minimum grade C. Through classroom lecture and/or lab/shop learning and assessment activities, students in this course will use the Shielded Metal Arc Welding process (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding Process (GMAW), and the Oxyfuel Cutting process (OFC); demonstrate the safe and correct set up of the SMAW, GMAW and OFC workstation; associate SMAW and GMAW electrode classifications with base metals and joint criteria; demonstrate proper electrode selection and use based on metal types and thicknesses; perform basic SMAW and GMAW welds on selected weld joints in the vertical and overhead positions; perform groove welds in all positions with backing. Perform visual inspection of welds and OFC cuts.
