Registered Phlebotomy Technician (RPT)


GCCC’s Phlebotomy Technician course trains students to obtain blood samples as ordered by the physician or other qualified healthcare practitioners for diagnostic purposes. Phlebotomy technicians generally work in hospital, health clinics, and other medical diagnostic settings. The Phlebotomy course may be taken as a stand-alone course. If the student would like to become RPT nationally certified through AMT, they must take all the following requirements below: 

EMIC 104 Medical Terminology  3 credit hours

HELR 150 Medical Professional Issues  2 credit hours

HELR 160 Laboratory Diagnostics and Phlebotomy  5 credit hours

  • Skills Competencies: 50 Venipuncture Successful Sticks
  • Skills Competencies: 10 Skin Punctures
